We strongly advise against mounting it on rigid forks (for road/gravel bikes), seat stays and/or chain stays due to the strap’s proximity to wheels and spokes. It is best suited to the TopTube, DownTube and SeatTube.
You can carry the same weight for off and on-road riding on your HydroMount. If using 2 straps (the minimum recommended amount), then you can carry up to 1kg. When using the HydroMount with all three straps, the rating increases to 1.5kg (~500g per strap).
The HydroMount ships with 4 different sets of M5 Torx Button-Head screws in lengths of 6.5mm, 7.5mm, 8.5mm, and 9.5mm. It includes a length checker tool so you can ensure you have the correct screw length for your bottle cage setup.
No, the HydroMount should only be mounted on the recommended areas of your bike frame.
The soft rubber of the HydroMount and our TPU straps are designed not to scratch your frame, but it may still happen. To reduce the likelihood of this happening, clean the frame, V-Mount, and straps of any dirt before mounting it to your bike, to minimise the chance of abrasion. If you are worried about the mount or the straps damaging the paint, then we recommend using protective frame tape between them.
We recommend mounting the HydroMount on tubes of a diameter between approximately 22-90mm.
The HydroMount is designed to fit within the dimensions of a bottle cage, so your bottle cage or mini cargo cage will be the limiting factor for space. You should allow as much room as the item you’re carrying too (e.g. the length of a water bottle).
Yes, the diameter of standard TT/Aero bars is enough to mount the HydroMount, but be mindful of the mounting position here.
It is designed for mounting smaller items like tool bottles, water bottles and Mini Cargo Cages due to its 64mm bolt-spacing.
It is designed for our thinner Frame Bag straps. With the thinner straps, you can pass the strap through twice, but with our thicker Cargo Straps, you may only be able to pass it through the slot once. It has not been rated or tested with voile straps.
It has been extensively tested on our custom test rigs that adhere to rack standards. Additional testing has been done in the wild by our R&D team and our product team during both on- and off-road adventures. Overloading or exceeding the weight limit could cause instability.
We recommend each screw should be tightened to 5Nm, which should match the required torque for any bottle cage (also typically around 5 Nm). We recommend checking the manufacturer’s recommended bottle cage torque if you’re unsure.
Yes, it aligns with Frame Bags and Top Tube Bags (including the Rear Top Tube Bag).
The HydroMount is designed asymmetrically so as not to exceed the limits of a bottle cage and keep the straps as close to the centre as possible. You can choose how you mount it, but keep this in mind.
No, we don’t recommend this as it will likely rotate downwards.
No, the rubber is integrated to improve the stability and longevity of the product. If the rubber is wearing, then it is likely that your straps are not tight enough.
